Know Your Rights

Under your FOSCEP contract and federal law, you are guaranteed certain rights to union representation.

Know them. Use Them.

1. You have a right to union representation, not a specific union representative, at any meeting with management which could possibly result in disciplinary action against you.
2. Whenever you are called to a meeting with management, explicitly ask about the specific nature of the meeting.
3. Before beginning the meeting or at any time that you believe the meeting is covering areas that might result in discipline, you must explicitly ask for union representation.
4. Prior to proceeding with the meeting, confer with your union representative and discuss the matters at issue in the meeting.
5. If you have any questions, ask your union representative.

FOSCEP: Our concern is people

The Federation of State Cultural and Educational Professionals, Local 2382, AFT, AFL-CIO, is the union representing professional employees in a variety of state departments and offices, including the Departments of Education, Transportation, Corrections, Environmental Protection, Health and the Historical and Museum Commission. Although our positions are varied, we share a common goal: to provide the best services possible to Pennsylvania residents. We invite you to get to know us, to share your ideas and contribute your talents and energy to making the union stronger for all of us.

As a FOSCEP member, you are members of the national labor movement, represented by AFT Pennsylvania at the state level and American Federation of Teachers and AFL-CIO, which help us advocate on state and national issues that affect the institutions and constituents we serve.
